AAB Office Equipment – Locally Owned & Family Operated
AAB Office Equipment has been the Cairns print specialist for over 40 years. Launched by Anton (Senior) Booy on 20 May 1977, the business was originally located on Mulgrave Road. Over the years, our location has changed several times, but our ownership has not. Today, Anton (Junior) Booy is Managing Director of AAB Office Equipment and his three brothers lead all departments within the business, ensuring the very best service for customers. Peter Booy is in charge of Sales, John Booij is the Service Manager and Robert Booij is Chief Financial Officer. The vision is clear: to continue to work with brands and customers to create partnerships that build strength and boost performance and productivity. We achieve this thanks to our team of 20 dedicated, professional personnel, servicing and supporting customers across Cairns and Far North Queensland.
OUR VALUES
Our core values are to provide the best service, delivered with integrity and competitive pricing, ensuring customer satisfaction and confidence. We expand our products, brand alliances, expertise and technology to exceed expectations and requirements. At AAB Office Equipment, we work tirelessly to be leaders in our field, expanding our software range, expertise and integration to enable our customers to increase their productivity and profit.
OUR PAST & PRESENT
Our family-owned and operated business had its origins in Cairns in 1976, when its founders, Tom and Giny, moved from Papua New Guinea after Independence. They purchased Royco Discounts at 67A Sheridan Street, selling Exide car batteries, cement mixers, paint and car parts, mainly to local cane farmers. In May 1977, they established AAB Office Equipment and purchased a second shop, Fosters Auto Spares, at 310 Mulgrave Road. In 1979 the Tandy Electronics shop was added to the Mulgrave Road site, as well as adding Cairns’ first computer classroom training centre.
A second Tandy Shop was opened in the expanded Earlville Shopping Centre in the early 1980s. In 1986, we moved to 37-39 Anderson Street and specialised in selling and servicing computer systems. In June 1986, we purchased the Nashua/Ricoh photocopier franchise and in 1988 we moved to 132 Collins Avenue, Edge Hill – our home for the next 12 years. The need for more space in 2000 saw us renovate 69 Mcleod Street, where we stayed till 2007. Our current premises at 216 Severin Street has been home for 10 years.
